How do you define spirit questing?
Spirit questing, in a nutshell, is communicating with earthbound human spirits and elementals.

What is the rationale behind spirit questing?
Where we communicate with earthbound human beings, we attempt to assist these spirits to move on or to release them from bondage to the earth-zone. Where we attempt to negotiate with elementals, we attempt to negotiate for the peaceful coexistence between these spirits and human beings.

How did spirit questing/Spirit Questors start in the country?
The Spirit Questors came into being from the elective course titled “Psychic Powers and Shamanism” which Tony Perez taught for the Interdisciplinary Studies Program of the Ateneo de Manila University in 1995. The syllabus consists mainly of the philosophy, native pathways and ritual practices of the North American Indians, which Tony had the opportunity to research on while training in the United States for the United States Information Service, where he has been employed for the past 2 decades. His students were introduced to the four directions, the medicine wheel, the sacred pipe, power bundles, prayer bundles, power animals, smudging, shamanic journeying, shamanic healing, shape-shifting, Zuni fetishes, soul catchers, dream catchers — and the Hopi Indian Spirit quest.

Tony’s students underwent an adaptation of this activity as the final project for the course. The activity was successful on three counts: as a forum for contacting spirits, as a venue for obtaining power and as a context for a numinous experience that constituted a true rite of passage.

What is a Hopi Indian Spirit Quest?
The Hopi Indian spirit quest is essentially a rite of passage, or initiation. During a native North American spirit quest, a shaman takes an adolescent to the wilderness, where, after a period of cleansing, they dig a hole on sacred ground. The adolescent stays inside the hole for a period of three days and three nights within which he will be visited by the spirits of his ancestors, his spirit guides and his power animals, and is endowed by them with his calling and the corresponding medicine that he will need for his life ahead. The adolescent then returns to his tribe, or community, where, henceforth, he is accepted and treated as an adult.

What misconceptions do you encounter regarding spirit questing?
Banishing and or “Ghost Busting”. We do not believe in banishing a spirit because a banished spirit simply displaces itself to another location within the earth-zone, and gains no enlightenment from our rejection. A spirit whom we approach in the light of God, on the other hand, is eventually unburdened of its suffering.

Are you affiliated with any TV show and/or other media group?
NO! We are NOT, in any way, connected with any TV show and/or other media group.

It is amazing how the phrases “spirit questors”, “spirit questing” and “spirit quests” have been household words due to the Questors’ media exposure that has catapulted them to national — and to a certain extent, international — consciousness. Even various mediums, channelers and séance leaders who are interviewed on TV, on radio and in print, mistakenly refer to themselves as “spirit questors.” The fact is, only the Spirit Questors can be called spirit questors (Spirit Questors, Inc., is registered under the Securities and Exchange Commission.)

Aside from completing training, the Questors are further characterized by the fact that the group render services free of charge to individuals and to groups, and do not accept donations of any kind on the grounds that in rendering service, a legitimate exchange of energy instantaneously occurs, its best forms being unconditional love, friendship and compassion. Where money, or nonspiritual compensation, is involved, unconditional love is certainly not possible.

More importantly, the Spirit Questors believe that, since we have received our psychic abilities for free, and that, if we use these powers in exchange for money or material things, we will eventually lose our protection, channel the wrong information and experience withdrawal of support from the spirit world. Thus, members who decided to do otherwise or to pursue individual careers have been asked to leave and sever their connections with the group. This rigid process of quality control is in line with the Questors’ fervent effort to uphold its principles at all times.

Is being a Spirit Questor a full-time job?
Although living the principles of the Spirit Questors is a full-time endeavour, each member has a life outside the organization. On regular days, Questors are encouraged to follow their own career paths. You'd be surprised by the number of professionals in the group such as doctors, educators, entrepreneurs, business executives and artists.

How does one become a Spirit Questor?
In order to become a Spirit Questor, he/she must first adhere to ideals and policies of the group. That person must then complete the core training given to him/her while still in the Observer status, pass the interview to be done by a panel of Questors and then membership will be voted upon by the Council and the Senior Spirit Questors.
